This Year's Project: Change Their World, One Furchild at a Time
About Our Organization
Since 1983 the McCook Humane Society has provided a temporary home for puppies and kittens, dogs and cats, as well as any other pet that needs to be re-homed. We are dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. Our motto is: Saving just one pet won’t change the world, but surely, the world will change for that one pet!
Current Project: Change Their World, One Furchild at a Time
Our biggest current project is to continue to upgrade our facility. This past year hit us hard, as it has everyone. Along with the challenges we've faced with providing continuing care for the temporarily homeless in our care during this unusual time, we've had a surge in multiple animal rescues and animals that need more medical attention and socialization (requiring longer housing and manpower) while still managing to meet our own and neighboring communities' needs. Which brings us to our other main and constant project, which is education, to help with Responsible Pet Ownership and to help animals receive proper care, and forever homes. We do all of this while continuing in our constant mission of providing the best care possible for the temporarily homeless furkids in the community, reuniting the lost with their families, promoting responsible pet ownership and offering assistance to those in need, just to start. Pictured is "Trooper", a dog who was stabbed multiple times and miraculously survived the ordeal. He was adopted into a loving home.
Until They All Have A Home
Our project, our mission, remains the same. To find forever homes for all of our temporarily homeless furry friends housed at the McCook Humane Society. Each pet available for adoption is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, comes pre-spoiled and is ready for you to fall in love with and adopt!
