This Year's Project: MCFF Unrestricted Endowment
The McCook Community Foundation Fund was formed 16 years ago as a way of "Looking Forward and Giving Back" to McCook and Southwest Nebraska. Since its inception, the McCook Community Foundation Fund has given more than $250,000 in grants to local organizations and community projects, ranging from leadership programs at MCC to childrens theater programs with SWNCTA. This year alone, MCFF will donate more than $60,000 in grants. MCFF oversees several local scholarships for graduating seniors and is active with young leaders in the community through the Youth Change Reaction and the Southwest Leadership Institute. MCFF also oversees nearly two dozen sub-accounts for local organizations including the Community Chest, the McCook Toy Box and the YMCA.
And MCFF is also a sponsor of the Big Give McCook event, bringing expertise and experience from the other affiliated funds, which have held Big Give Days, and the Nebraska Community Foundation. MCFF Advisory Committee members feel Big Give McCook is a great way for everyone to have the chance to give - and support - their local charities and non-profit organizations.
Current Project: MCFF Unrestricted Endowment
Over the past 17 years, the McCook Community Foundation Fund has grown its unrestricted endowment to more than $1.3 million through generous donors and supporters of the foundation. As the unrestricted endowment continues to grow, MCFF is able to use the interest from the endowment to provide grants to the community, supporting a wide range of projects, events and organizations. Donations to MCFF during Big Give McCook will go toward the unrestricted endowment, benefitting McCook and the surrounding community for years to come.
