This Year's Project: Finish the upstairs Gallery
About Our Organization
We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting area artists. A number of local teachers and instructors generously give their time and instruction in classes and workshops.
McCook Art Guild was birthed in the 1960's. Presently located at 209 Norris Avenue, where local and surrounding artists come for educational lessons in art, such as, drawing, water color painting, oil painting, china painting, sculpting. We also encourage the youth thru our schools with several contests during the year available for students. Also a summer art camp is held, usually in June, here at the Guild. We feature an artist of the month in our vault each month.
Contests are held monthly where pieces often move on to other exhibitions and state competitions.
Members of the Guild this year gladly participated in the updating of all the signs and Christmas scenes for Santa Claus Lane. It's not too late to donate to this cause which encompassed close to 2,000 hours of work in the rebuilding, repainting and placing glass reflectors on each piece in hopes to bring a smile to the kid in all of us as we proudly drive up Norris Avenue each Christmas season.
Our gallery has expanded to the upstairs as well as the main floor. Your support will be used mainly to finish off the lighting placement and our heat and air so we can use the space all year round. Thank you for your support.
Current Project: Finish the upstairs Gallery
Over the past several years we have been busy doubling our coverage area by reopening the upstairs gallery. We have finished the walls, drop ceiling and flooring. The electrical work is in place, however, we need to finish with the proper lighting fixtures and install heat and air so that this space can be used year round. We thank you in advance for your help with this project which again we think makes McCook a welcoming place for not only the community by surrounding area and local artists to continue their trade.
