About Our Organization
Welcome to the Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation profile!
Hillcrest Nursing Home opened in June of 1963 with 23 private and semi-private rooms. Over the years, through the generous support of donors, Hillcrest has undergone several rnovation and additions. The Lorene Jennings Wing (1968), the Wrightstone Wing (1976) and the Cashen Wing (1982) created a 99 bed facility. In 1989, a spacious front living room and stain glass window was added. The number of beds increased to 120 in 1996 with a Special Care Unit for dementia residents and a Heavy Care Unit. Kitchen upgrades, a new activities area and sun porch were also included. In 2000, the Hidden Pines Assisted Living was completed with 10 apartments. Renovations to the dining room were completed in 2002 to create the Aggie O'Hare Bistro and Fine Dining. A renovation of the original wing in 2012 included an enclosed resident transfer garage. The most recent project, completed in Summer of 2023 was a landscaping and sprinkler project that was funded by The Nebraska Arboretum, local grants and contributions made to the Hillcrest Foundation.
Many of the completed projects were made possible through tax-deductible donations. The foundation was founded in 1989 and continues to support Hillcrest improvement projects, provides "Hillcrest Homegrown" Education Scholarships for those who want to further their education, and works to improve the lives of residents through fund raising and grant making.
