About Our Organization
The High Plains Historical Society has had many people throughout the years with vision of preserving our history. As the next generation we are working hard to continue what was started and to continue to add new displays to our facility.
In 2022 we replaced all lighting to LED and have starting putting down new flooring and repainting as we better the displays we have.
2023 we have updated displays and added a collection management program to catalog our wonderful items. We ahve also hired a new site manager, Linda Buck. In 2023 we had our 2nd Night at the Museum Spooktakular, Sweet Adelines performed for our annual meeting celeberating our 60th birthday.
The High Plains Museum is in need of a new roof to protect the collections of our communities. The roof is around 40 years old and is in need of repair and/or replacement. The total cost for this item is around 100K. Thank you for your consideration and support!!
As the vision of the Board of Directors moves forward we are working on making an access hallway entrance to the Carnegie Library. By doing this it allows full access to this historic space for visitors.
Our goal is to extend the balcony on the North side of the museum, installing a walkway from that location into the southwest window of the Carnegie Library. This walkway will be directly above the breezeway that connects the HPHS Museum and the Carnegie Library Basement.
Future goals will allow the Carnegie Library to be used as a research center and meeting rooms.
